What do we believe?
Kirkridge is a congregation of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, which traces it roots to the Reformation church of Scotland and continues to be a conservative, evangelical denomination in 21st century America. The ARP adheres to the historic doctrinal statements of the Westminster Standard which were developed from Holy Scripture and
emphasize the following:
God is the Sovereign Creator and Ruler of the Universe.
Jesus Christ
is the Son of God and the only Savior and Lord of Humankind.
Humankind
is corrupted by sin and is therefore separated from God. Our relationship with our heavenly Father is broken.
Salvation
is by God's grace, freely given through faith, and not earned by the merit of humankind.
The Bible
is the infallible Word of God, the only rule of faith and practice, and is without error in all that it teaches.
The Holy Spirit is the initiator and enabler of Christian life.
The Ten Commandments
are the summation of humanity's duty to God, and of humankind's responsibility to other human beings.
Church Government
is by the Presbyterian System, as outlined in the New Testament, from which the denomination takes it's name. Consequently, the church is led by elders and deacons who are elected in a democratic way by each congregation.
The Sacrament of Baptism
is administered to believers and their children. All forms of Christian baptism are recognized; a second ceremony is generally not administered to those already baptized in other Christian churches.
Believers may join
the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church by profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith, or the transfer of membership from another denomination.
Missionaries
Kirkridge supports several missionaries operating in local, national, and global mission fields.
